Day 2
He tells her that the earth is flat-
He knows the facts, and that is that.
This is from a poem by Wendy Cope called Differences of Opinion. I love how it illustrates ‘mansplaining’ so perfectly. I used to work in an office of males and I’m quite familiar with the attitude, the talking-over-top, the taking glory for others’ ideas. If you read the full poem, the last line illustrates the facts that the woman knows the reality, calmly, quietly. Yet there is no reasoning with this condescending man. I love it.
