This is a new segment, highlighting the darkest secrets of your blogging and reading habits for the world to see. It is also a great way to promote yourself. If you want to take part, flick me an email on nzproof [at] gmail.com and let me know your blog name.
Our featured guest today is Monica from Dear Sobriety. She writes honestly and openly about her journey and what she has learnt. Hop over and check out her blog.
Can you describe your blog in 20 words or less?
Let’s go with “The life of an alcoholic in recovery one day at a time.” It’s basically me sharing how much more peaceful life is in recovery while still being fun! Maybe if I actually start dating people, I’ll adjust it to “Sober is Sexxxy!” Lol!
How do you measure success in a blog?
Initially, I would have answered with numbers of followers or likes, but when people actually comment, I feel like it’s next level.
I’m still really new to this, so I’m also working on my virtual networking. Not just to reel in more followers. As I’m reading others’ stories, I’m finding that the writers on WP are incredibly talented! It’s fun for me to relate their stories to mine and vice versa.
Where do you find information about blogging?
Honestly, I haven’t done much research on the subject, but I am truly enjoying learning from other bloggers right here on WP.
Who is your go-to author on a bad day?
Bentley Little! I have been reading him for years now. I am a huge horror fan and he never fails to pull out all the crazy stops. I find myself cringing and wanting more at the same time. I guess this is what happens when you grow up reading R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike.
Which book would you love to read but haven’t got around to it yet?
NOS4A2. I just recently started reading Joe Hill’s Horns and it is a whole new world of ghoulish wonder that I’m finding enjoyable to explore.
What would make you DNF a book? (Did Not Finish)?
Too many details! I think Stephen King is a great author, but unless it’s applicable to the plot, I don’t think it’s necessary to add in the minutiae.

Some great books in there, Monica. Nice mix of classics and more contemporary novels and different genres, too. I have been meaning to read Joe Hill’s books too.
